Aphrodite* / her* geographies, her* complices, her* intersexions
Open Call to participate in the queer-feminist Festival Aphrodite* 2020 with films/videos by women* and LGBTQI*+ artists from the Balkan countries who live or have lived in Greece.
The queer-feminist festival Aphrodite* continues with its third edition. The two-day Aphrodite* Festival 2020 is the initial event of this year’s thematic “her* geography, her* synergies, her* intersexions”, which explores the issues of geographical proximity as well as the historical-political, economic and affective interdependence of bordering Balkan countries. Due to the physical and material constraints imposed by the pandemic, the festival will be held online on 5th and 6th December in collaboration with the Greek Film Archive.
The program of the Aphrodite* Festival 2020 seeks to approach the experiences of migration and especially the issues of proximity, distance, surveillance, sexuality, body, intimacy and home. We ask ourselves how vulnerability, isolation, restricted freedom of movement and a closed border policy are experienced within the pandemic, but also which new ways of dealing with life and loss can emerge through these constraints.
We are looking forward to your contributions with feature or short films, experimental films, documentaries and diy videos. The audience will award the best film during the festival. The open call is part of the Aphrodite* Festival 2020 and will be presented along with films and videos curated by queer and feminist collectives from the Balkans: ALeanca_LGBT (Albania), Sofia Queer Forum (Bulgaria), Pembe Hayat Kuirfest (Turkey), Tiiiit! Inc. (Macedonia).
