Das große Gefängnis. Geschichten von Harraga

Gefängnisse erfüllen zentrale politische und ökonomische Funktionen. Sie sind industrielle Komplexe, die hohe Profite generieren und zugleich Internierungslager für diejenigen, die in dieser Gesellschaft unerwünscht sind. Darunter fallen zahlreiche Personengruppen, die nicht willens oder in der Lage sind, sich den Anforderungen des Spätkapitalismus im globalen Norden zu stellen.

MigrantInnen stellen eine der wichtigsten und zahlenmäßig größten dieser Personengruppen dar. Für sie ist das „kleine Gefängnis“ Teil und verdichteter Ausdruck des großen Gefängnisses der Gesellschaft, in der sie leben und an deren Teilhabe sie systematisch gehindert werden. Das große wie das kleine Gefängnis individualisieren und moralisieren gesellschaftliche Probleme und beantworten sie mit radikalem Ausschluss.

Die Interviews entstanden und/oder wurden im Rahmen des Projekts „Über Grenzen und Mauern. Migration und Gefängnis“ übersetzt, das vom Hor 29 Novembar u.a. in Kooperation mit dem eipcp - european institute for progressive cultural policies, dem Institut für Rechts- und Kriminalsoziologie sowie dem Augustin im Rahmen der wienwoche 2014 durchgeführt wurde.

Prisons fulfil central political and economic functions. They are industrial complexes that generate high profits, and at the same time they are internment camps for those not wanted in this society. Numerous groups of persons unwilling or unable to cope with the demands of late
capitalism in the global North are affected by imprisonment.

Migrants are one of the most important and largest groups of persons imprisoned. For them the "small prison" is a part and a condensed  expression of the big prison: this is the society in which they live, but are systematically prevented from participating in. Both the big and the small prisons individualize and moralize social problems, responding with radical exclusion.

Les fonctions centrales qu'ont les prisons sont de nature politique et économique.Elles sont des complexes industriels qui génèrent des profits importants en même temps, qu'elles enferment ceux qui ne sont pas les bienvenus dans nos sociétés. Des groupes de personnes qui ne veulent ou ne peuvent pas répondre aux exigences du capitalisme tardif dans le nord global.

Parmi eux, les migrants représentent le nombre le plus important de ces groupes de personnes. Pour eux la « petite prison » est à la fois une partie et l'expression condensées de la grande prison qui est la société dans laquelle ils vivent et dans laquelle ils sont systématiquement exclus et empêchés de participer. La grande, comme le petit prison, individualisent et moralisent les problèmes sociétaux et répondent à ces problèmes par une exclusion radicale.
