Versos Transversos
(Scroll down for English version)
São versos transversos emersos de versos
de versos transversos de almas bem simples
de versos conversas transversas translínguas
de versos reversos aprendizados
de versos bem sangue bem perto do longe
bem longe do perto pulsando bem dentro
do ontem bem dentro do longe bem hoje
do coração selvagem de Clarice Lispector
bem dentro do hoje bem dentro do perto
bem perto deste seu enfermo e rebelde coração
São versos-devir sob céu de estrelas
bem dentro bem longe brilhando bem alma
E ouço bem perto o bater apressado
e nunca amanhecemos as mesmas

Transverse Verses
These are transverse verses emerging from verses
from transverse verses of very simple souls
from verses transverse translingual conversations
from verses reverse learnings
from verses so blood so near the faraway
so far from the near pulsating so deep
deep inside yesterday deep inside the today from faraway
of Clarice Lispector’s wild heart
deep inside today deep inside the near
so near to your ailing and rebellious heart
These are becoming-verses beneath a starry sky
deep inside far away shining deep the soul
verses dispersed transverse so near
So near that your hair beneath an almost-loose veil
exhales the smell of burning flesh
beneath the midday sky in the middle of the street so far away
just there on the corner beneath the sky of Tunisia
So far that beneath the sky your almost-loose braid
blends into a Yanomami headdress beneath the sky
beneath the sky collapsing down upon heads here
so near to Kabul in the Amazon
So near that between letters and syllables and sentences
floating over the lined paper in your notebook
palabras que no morirán blossom
so near so far Zapatista corazón
So near so far that in my mouth the bitterness
of my latent un-knowing
So far that words burn deep inside
glowing ember words that you utter
phoneme by phoneme with a mutilated voice
aflame with the ember that burns the body
in today’s yesterday on a distant pyre
so near so far burning in history
in the echo of voices burning for verses
for transverse verses burning with love
So near so far that vision overflows
your hand which is so many hands in this sertão
scribbling erasing breaking through the impossible ground
And I hear near by the hurried beating
of a wild heart seeking passage
among strokes that want to become indistinguishable
among letters and syllables and words and sentences
that confuse fertilize and transverse today
with what is already yesterday and already pulses tomorrows
and if life is monetizable
and tomorrows cancelled forbidden compelled
your ailing heart is transviável
and shuffles letters and phonemes that like cards
transverberate ecstasies and result in a smile
of a rebellious heart translexive transgressive
toward the verse compelled forbidden cancelled
and along the lines of flight of your lined notebook
letters flying over streets and forests
translate themselves into confident “until tomorrows”
in desire in verse in risk in life
So near so far so today so yesterday
and we never awake the same
