Angela Melitopoulos

Angela Melitopoulos art works consists of complex cine(so)matic cartographies that assume the form of video installations, video essays and sound pieces in which moving bodies and site traversals create mnemonic milieus. Her film-installations on collective memory transmissions stand for a post-colonial alliance, resistant subjectivities and of revisions of History, of imperialist violence, fascism and the experience of migrations in the 20th century.

She showed her video in many international exhibitions since 1985. A retrospective of her work took place at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in 2023. She holds a Ph.D. in Visual Cultures entitled Machinic Animism and the revolutionary practice of geo-psychiatry. (Goldsmiths University of London). She taught as a professor of Media art at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and in the HfG Karlsruhe, Germany

Angela Melitopoulos' künstlerisches Werk besteht aus komplexen kinematographischen Kartographien, die die Form von Videoinstallationen, Videoessays und Klangstücken annehmen, in denen bewegte Körper und Ortsdurchquerungen mnemonische Milieus schaffen. Ihre Filminstallationen zu kollektiven Gedächtnisübertragungen stehen für eine postkoloniale Allianz, widerständige Subjektivitäten und Revisionen der Geschichte, der imperialistischen Gewalt, des Faschismus und der Erfahrung von Migrationen im 20.

Seit 1985 hat sie ihre Videos in zahlreichen internationalen Ausstellungen gezeigt. Eine Retrospektive ihres Werks fand 2023 im Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia statt.
