Toni Negri, Common and Condivision
Conversation with Gerald Raunig, Part 4
In this interview, recorded in Paris in September 2022, Toni Negri talks about his political philosophy, its most important concepts and their contemporary relevance. In the fourth and last part of the conversation, the Italian philosopher begins by defining individualism as the doctrine of modernity, which has created monsters to the present day. The conversation circles around the alternatives to this reign and the grammar of the “individual-king.” Extending beyond purely linguistic and metaphysical grounds, the conceptual-political stakes develop from Negri’s concept of the common to a politicization of the Italian colloquial term “condivisione” towards Gerald Raunig’s political theory of condivision and con/dividuality.
