Abdel Hafed Benotman ist Schriftsteller und Ex-Gefangener. Autor von zwei Romanen in autobiographischem Stil Marche de nuit sans lune (2008) und Éboueur sur échafaud (2003) sowie von zwei Kurzgeschichtensammelbänden Les Forcenés (2000) und Les poteaux de torture (2006), die alle beim Verlag Rivages/Noir erschienen sind. Er war insgesamt 17 Jahre lang in Haft. Sein Widerstand artikuliert sich durch seine Literatur innerhalb und außerhalb der Mauern. Darüberhinaus gründete er außerhalb des Gefängnisses im Jahr 2001 die aktivistische Zeitschrift L’Envolée.
